You probably want to know who we are, and who Betsy is, and why Betsy is named Betsy?
We are a small family owned business based between Leyland and Preston, currently with just the one campervan, and Betsy is our ‘slightly’ orange coloured Fiat Ducato based campervan. She is a Wildax Constellation conversion, and is fully equipped with onboard water, waste, cooking and heating facilities.
As for why an orange Fiat is named Betsy, she was actually bought newly converted by my then 72 year old mother as a downsizing move after my father passed away in 2012, and as he had always named every one of his cars Betsy no matter what it was, this seemed a logical step to her, and for the next 7 years she spent long weeks away in it with her 2 dogs travelling all over Great Britain.
This well loved family owned van has a maximum of four travel seats (current setup has three seats), with an extra seat belt point for a dog harness, and the bed makes up into a large double which fits two adults comfortably, or three if you don’t mind getting cosy. This setup was used regularly by my mother with her two dogs, Labrador Ivy and Retriever Quaver, with the addition of either our
daughter (older teen/adult), or her other grandchildren (two primary age children), and on one unforgettable occasion all of the above.
As you can tell pets are more than welcome, though we do request that all animals wear an appropriately sized travel harness suitable to connect to a standard seat belt point during travel, or you bring your own travel cage. Festivals and other events are also fine, though we do request that you let us know beforehand as an extra cleaning charge may be needed. Also, please be assured that the van is fully cleaned, and professionally valeted between trips.
This modern professionally converted van has plenty of cupboard space for travellers to use, as well as a fitted kitchen with worktops, fridge, sink, microwave and three ring gas hob. We also provide a washing up bowl, sink drainer, stove kettle, small saucepans and a frying pan, as well as some cooking utensils, a storage container for bread, several microwavable pots and storage boxes. There is also a separate bathroom area with a flushing toilet and folding sink.
The living area is currently set up with two cushions and cosy throws on a bench seat and a chair, with a swivel under the front passenger seat for extra seating, however you may wish to change the seating to two bench seats in the rear once at your destination, and use the rear door for access. Travellers must provide their own towels, pillows & bedding, however the two throws in the rear are king size, and can be used as extra blankets if it gets chilly.
There are two tables which you can set up inside the van, one of which has a base so that you can use it outside under the awning with two folding camp chairs provided. The cupboards also contain an attractive melamine dinner set for four people, including dinner plates, side plates, cereal bowls & coffee cups, as well as cutlery, a set of four stemless wine glasses, place mats, coasters, two tea towels, and an easy wipe tablecloth.
Cleaning supplies are also provided, including hand sanitiser, anti-bacterial cleaning wipes, washing up liquid, washing up brush, sponge scourer, long handled brush, dustpan & brush, and a rechargeable vacuum cleaner. Measured doses of fluid for the toilet, and two toilet rolls will also be included.
This van is fitted with twin leisure batteries and LPG gas tank, and all the appliances and heating run off these if you wish to ‘wild camp’, or on sites without electrical hook ups. A tow bar, and a two bike rack are also available for use at the rear, for those travellers who wish to go mountain biking, or tow a trailer.
Explanations on the use of all appliances will be given to travellers on handover, and a vehicle handbook will be available for reference during your trip, also handy demonstration videos will be available online.
Free secure parking in a gated compound is available for your vehicle during your trip.
